"The Great Rides of Wyoming"
Wyoming is the tenth largest state in the country and the least populated. For the touring motorcyclist riding here, it s a slice of heaven -- wide open ranges and remote roads with un-crowded riding reach into all corners of the state. In 1872 Yellowstone became the first National Park in the U.S., and the world! Though it seduces three million visitors a year, there is so much more to Wyoming than its famous parks.

Route Description
Dead Indian Pass, Chief Joseph Highway (WY 296)
Coming from the west, the approach to Chief Joseph Highway is all rolling hills before the road gets lively up into the Absaroka Range. From the east, the drive is steeper, with far flung switchbacks racing to the pass above the vast Bighorn Basin. Chef Joseph Scenic Byway and "Dead Indian Pass" are one and the same. The monikers pay tribute to the legendary Chief Joseph and his Nez Perce Indians, who traversed these mountains evading the U.S. cavalry in 1877 from Yellowstone into Montana
